Piers reveals that Mondello Park is Ireland’s only international motor racing track. As well as hosting domestic and international racing events we hold lots of consumer and corporate motoring experiences. So, whether companies are looking for an exhilarating, fun-packed experience that will test their guests but ultimately bring them together, a distinctive venue for a meeting, conference, training course or banquet, or the right site for a show-stopping event or brand activation we do it all.

What are your main priorities and goals in your role?

To drive revenues in the corporate and consumer market in a strategic way that will ultimately future proof the business.  This includes driving our green agenda that is ultimately important for us as well as our customers.

What are your biggest challenges?

On the racing front it can be that there is a perception motor racing is cost-prohibitive. On the corporate and domestic front, it is ensuring we future proof to operate Mondello Park in a more environmentally friendly way.

What are the challenges facing your industry going forward?

Ensuring we are greener, Brexit, and that there is an over reliance on one-off consumer experiences which are affected in the downturn of a recession

What new trends are emerging in your industry?

Electric and autonomous vehicles are an incredibly interesting space and one that Mondello Park are actively engaged with.

Are you finding any skills gaps in the market?

Location means it can be hard to attract younger graduates that pine for the bright lights of the city

How will Brexit affect you, or have you started to feel the effects already?

The automotive sector is definitely concerned and that will have an affect, but the vast majority of our consumer and corporate customers are located here. We don’t know yet but watch this space.

How do you define success and what drives you to succeed?

Ultimately success in my role is growth in revenues, while ensuring margins are maintained for a sustained period. In essence I am driven by numbers, people and instigating change for the better of an organisation.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given, or would give, in business?

It’s imperative to look after your staff because if you do, they will look after your customers. Staff need to be engaged at all levels and empowered.

What have been your highlights in business over the past year?

Too new to tell you yet but hoping for a good Q4!

What’s next for your company?

We are in an exciting phase, looking at strategy for the business as we look towards the next 5 years

What opportunities or plans for growth do you see in 2019?

We hope to grow the experiential aspects of the consumer business as we plan towards more sustained growth

Where do you want your business/brand to be this time next year?

Many know the brand in Mondello but we would hope to have a more active engagement with the venue by the under 30’s market.
