How do you keep your team/staff motivated?
To be honest, we all get along so well and I always give credit where credit is due. I have the most amazing team and always listen to their feedback because a lot of the time they know better than me, which is why I hired them!
What are the challenges facing your industry going forward?
Almost every brand is advertising on social media so the challenge for a lot of businesses is figuring out how to stand out online and become memorable. We, as consumers, suffer from information overload and cannot recall a lot of what we have seen online so the brands who can evoke an emotion with a consumer are more likely to be trusted and remembered.
Are there any major changes you would like to see in your sector?
I would like to see more policing on influencer marketing and the promotion of products that give people unrealistic expectations. Whilst this has been clamped down on I feel that more needs to be done about misleading advertising.
What’s the best advice you’ve been given, or would give, in business?
The best advice I’ve ever been given was from my mom and she said to me that ‘it’s never a mistake when there’s a lesson learned.’
What have been your highlights in business over the past year?
We’ve had a great year at DW working with brands such as TOM FORD and Five Guys, and one campaign that stands out to me is the ‘Speak With Your Feet’ campaign we ran last year where the power of social media was harnessed to bring thousands of people together for an anti-pollution march. We had seven days to get people on the streets for a silent march and we did it. We didn’t sleep very much that week…
What opportunities or plans for growth do you see in 2020?
Following the COVID19 outbreak I see a huge opportunity for brands to maximise social media so I’m excited to take on new projects and challenges to help businesses recover as quick as possible from the situation.
